Paul O’Connor
Paul has twenty years’ experience servicing the Fund’s & Insurance sectors in Dublin and the Channel Islands.
Paul led Credit Suisse’s first physical footprint in Ireland, Credit Suisse Life (Ireland) Limited, as Chief Executive Officer; was General Manager of Generali PanEurope Limited and previously Client Service Manager at International Fund Managers (Jersey) Limited, now part of the Northern Trust Group, previously part of ING Group owned Baring Financial Services Group.
In his career to date, Paul acted as a service provider to the funds industry and executive manager to life insurance companies. He is versed in all aspects of operations, regulatory matters, relationships with service providers and the establishment of corporate governance structures in addition to the consideration of risk management and compliance matters as well as ensuring the adherence to ongoing obligations.
As a service provider & institutional investor, Paul is experienced in the launch and management of investment funds, from those servicing retail & professional investors; he is experienced in servicing numerous asset types & strategies including UCITS & hedge funds (credit, long/short & specific derivative instruments), real estate, fund of funds, fixed income, traditional equity funds, listed funds, securitisation vehicles and limited partnerships.
Paul was a panel speaker at the 2012 Irish Funds Industry Annual Conference, participating in a discussion on “Who are the customers to the Irish Fund Industry?”.
Paul is a serving committee member of the Swiss Irish Business Association (SIBA).
Paul is a qualified accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, designated FCCA, was awarded a B.A (Honours – 2.1) in Economics and History from University College, Dublin, awarded a Certificate in Company Direction by the Institute of Directors, Professional Certificate in Financial Advice awarded by University College, Dublin and with respect to project management, Prince2 Certificate awarded by APMG-International.
